Speak Our Minds
Pioneering Change in Youth Mental Health
In partnership with Speak Our Minds, I worked with a talented team to craft two campaigns that highlighted the pressing issues in youth mental health care. Our work on the promotion of 'The Wait to Nowhere' documentary and the 'System Fails' series aimed to raise awareness and drive change for a more supportive mental health system for children.
The Challenge
Youth mental health care in America is at a crisis point. When children and teens need help, they face devastating wait times, insurance barriers, and a fragmented system that often fails them when they're most vulnerable. My team worked with Speak Our Minds, a Denver-based nonprofit, to help translate these complex systemic issues into compelling narratives that would resonate with both policymakers and the public.
Our Role
Developed social media strategy to amplify the documentary's message
Created a visual system that made statistics and data points shareable and emotionally resonant
Designed content that encouraged viewers to understand the deep-rooted issues in youth mental health care
Project 1: ‘The Wait to Nowhere’
This documentary spotlights the critical need for systemic change by unveiling the harsh reality of delayed mental health care for children and teens.
Objective
To engage a diverse audience, particularly targeting parents, policymakers, and youth, through compelling visual content and storytelling.
Strategy
Asset 1: Share snippets and powerful quotes from the documentary to highlight the urgency of the mental health crisis.
Asset 2: Share visually impactful clips from Val's story, who was featured and interviewed in the documentary, to highlight the disparities between physical and mental health care.
In both assets, the focus was on creating a narrative that was engaging and evocative, prompting viewers to understand the deep-seated issues in youth mental health care and inspiring them to take action or spread awareness.
